Tautha Colour Schemes
Despite living in woods, the Sidhe and Tir Tautha are a cultured race with a strong
and colourful couture. Each tribe has its own particular style and way of marking
and within the tribe there is also great variety in colour and pattern of dress. This
article will show some of the more popular colour schemes used by Tautha Units.
Tir Tautha
The Tir Tautha wear hose from ankle to about mid-way up their thigh. The top is usually
a thick band of a colour different to the hose. Around the ankle is another band,
much thinner that can be the same colour as the top band or different. The bands are
tighter against the leg than the hose, stopping it from falling or riding up the calf.
The leading Gaelh tribe has distinct black hose either banded at the trop with
white or gold. The ankle is always banded with gold. Maidens of the Queen have the
gold bands whilst those of the Infanta are white.
The Maidens of Heroines usually adopt the hose pattern of the Heroine for identification
in life and battle. Heroine's do not change the colour of the bands but have leeway
to alter the hose as they desire - after all they are the great fighters of the Tir.
Sidhe Tautha
The Sidhe have even greater variety in colour and form than their Tir cousins. The
hose is extended with a garter around the abdomen, which keeps the ensemble in place.
The ankle is kept tight but usually without any differentiation from the hose of the
legs. Some hose covers the foot as well.
Black is also a prominant hose colour for the Sidhe. However bands usually add
lozenges down the length of each side of the thigh to the kness. An especially renown
band of the Heroine Nhalaia has pure white hose with red lozenges, the colours of
their patron Spirit Uzum.
Huntresses prefer hose that blends into the forests and apply patterns to their skin
as well. Some more outlandish patterns are those bands residing around orchards or
flower meadows.
