Glamourkin - The High Races
The Hierarchy of Gal has three levels: mortal maiden, beauteous Glamourkin, and the
immortal Goddesses. The maidens know little of the Glamourkin, only having some mythical
stories and tales that have been embelished by time or exaggerated by Heroines to
increase their own glamour. The Glamourkin, the High Races as they see themselves
one step removed from the Goddesses and far above the physical recesses of maidens,
are very real and very powerful.
Glamourkin's aim is to add a new dimension to the Aryiki world, a mythic quality that
few Heroines could ever aspire to. It is more individual based, almost to the Role
Playing level, pitting Glamourkin and their retinues (called a Vogue) of Sorceresses,
Witches and Handmaids against one another from the Underworld to the lofty spires
and palaces above the clouds as they carry out their Quests given to them by the Goddesses.
High Races
Just as there are many races of maidens; the Hellenas, Tautha, Sable, Jezebel and
others; there are many High Races each with differing traits and powers. All of them
use magic, either in its raw or harnessed for, or as foci in weapons or staves, or
even atuned to the very clothing and armour they wear. At a starting point it is best
to think of a Glamourkin as the most glamourous Heroine in any of the maiden lands,
and then some.
Some of the High Races are:
Phoenixes
The Phoenix Glamourkin have the ability to reincarnate after their death. As learning
this impressive skill requires great magi prowress and intelligence the number of
Phoenixes is small. Even so, many wish to learn and the size of a Phoenix Vogue is
never small.
Phoenixes wear impressive headdress. Two phoenix wings curve out from beneath a long
braid making the Glamourkin's race unmistakable. Mana crystals dangle from the wings,
tinkling as she moves.
The necklace is more than ornamental. Each wafer represents a reincarnation. The more
wafers, the older and more experienced the Phoenix is. Each wafer holds a lifetime
of learning that the current incarnation can call upon.
To further conform to the appearance of the Phoenix, shimmering transluscent cloth
flows down from the headdress in two streams falling to about knee hight before rising
to be tied about the wrist. When the Phoenix holds out her arms these wings rise.
The standard Phoenix weapon are a pair of four-winged daggers. The inside curves are
razor sharp and used to decapitate or pin an enemy. The tips can be used to stap as
well.
Sunkiss & Moonbeam
These two Glamourkin exist in a strange plane where each side is in constant struggle
for dominance; either to have the Sun or the Moon reside over the world for all time.
The Sunkiss worship the Sun Goddess Sol and have learnt to harness the power of the
Sun and concentrates its rays into tight beams of destructive energy, or to dazzle
and blind their foes. Their weapons look like ordinary swords or ornate staves and
can be used ordinarily, or to shoot these brightrays that can melt through armour
or immolate unprotected flesh. The Sunkiss themselvs wear extroadinary golden plate
armour and a vertical golden halo of twelve points from which rays can also shoot.
Moonbeam Glamourkin are the aspect of night and worhship the Moon Goddess Luna. Instead
of fiery rays, their's are pale white and wither enemies away or thrown nets or blades
of stars. A Moonbeam's flesh is pale or grey and her hair a cascade of silver. Their
plate armour is silver as well and divoted. Moon rock rods and long swords are their
primary weapons. Behind their head is a silver disk representing Luna.
The Vogues of both Glamourkin are lesser damsels in chain armed with normal weapons.
Not until a damsel becomes skilled enough to be brought into the kin can she learn
the magicks of the Sun or Moon.
When the two Glamourkin meet in battle they struggle for the sky is as fierce as the
battle on meadow. Whichever side has the advantage: a blazing Sun or eclipsing Moon,
can call upon stronger magicks and influence from their Goddess.
