Sol'una is played in turns until one side has reached its victory conditions and won the game. Each Turn is divided into 10 phases. A model may perform an Action if its current Mind value cross-referenced to the Phase number has an X.

A model that can Action can perform any one of the following choices:

  • Move
  • Attack a target: ranged or melee*
  • Manipulate an Artifact*
  • Concentrate a Psionic*

Choices marked by a * a cannot be performed in each Action in a Turn. When or how often they can be performed depends on what the model is actually going to do and the abilities of the model also. Explanations are provided later in the relevant section of the rules.

More often than not two or more models can action in the same Phase. If models are on opposing sides each model must secretly decide its Action choice before any are revealed.

Actions are simultaneous and the result of one Action does not take affect until the end of all Actioning models completing their choices (the end of the Phase).

 

Two models, Meen and Xul can Action this phase. Meena’s Choice is to Attack Xul. Xul’s Choice is to Move to a square that would take him out of Line Of Sight to Meena. Xul moves and is now out of Line Of Sight to Meena. But Meena can still make her attack because all Actions in a Phase are simultaneous. She attacks Xul as if he had not yet moved. If Meena’s attack eliminated Xul’s ability to move or killed him outright, he would still move. At the end of the Phase any injury or death suffered come into effect.

 

A model may wish to defer their Activation for a later phase, which may be in another Turn. The model cannot perform any other Activation whilst is it in a deferred mode and losses its deferred Activation if it does so.

 

At the end of all models Action Choices the Phase is completed. The next Phase of the Turn begins.

 

At the end of the tenth Phase the Turn is completed. Any Turn based Effects expire at this point. The first Phase of the next Turn begins.

To speed play, begin the Turn at the Phase of the first activation. This phase can change as models’ Mind value changes through injury or other affects.
