An Actioning Model can Move if it has one or
more Speed points remaining. A model can move a maximum of squares in its Action as
its Stride attribute.
Xul has a Speed attribute value of 7. Already
this turn he has moved and used 3 points leaving him with 4 Speed points remaining.
His Stride attribute is 2 so he can move up to two squares this Action.
A model can move in any direction without changing
the direction it is facing. The cost in Speed points to move into any one of the nine
squares surrounding a model is
Meena can move into any of the nine squares surrounding
her. In her Action her Choice is to Move. She moves directly to the left for a cost
of 2 points of Speed.
The model remains facing the same direction.
It costs 1 point to chance facing to any of the four directions.
Meena has not finished her Move Action yet.
She turns around changing her facing twice. This costs 1 point of Speed. Meena’s stride
is only 1 so she cannot move another square. Her Action finished, she has spent a
total of 3 points of Speed.
The model cannot move into a square if there
is an obstruction in the way that covers the entire length of the square’s side. Obstructions
also affect diagonal movement.
An obstruction can be a wall, a large Artifact, a Force
Shield, or a void. Another model is also an obstruction.
An obstruction will block movement if two straight
lines touch or run along the obstruction, or three diagonal lines running through
the corners of the square to the next squares corners.
An obstruction will increase the cost of moving
into a square by 1 if two diagonal lines run through the obstruction.
Meena wants to move diagonally to the left.
Directly to her left is a wall that she cannot move through (an obstruction). The
length of the wall runs all the way to the corner of the square. Checking the three
diagonal lines two of them touch or pass through the wall. To move diagonally will
cost 2 points of Speed instead of the usual one because of the obstruction by the
wall.
The state of the surface a model moves through
might increase the cost of moving into a square.
-
If the square is a steep slope or steps the cost
is increased by 1.
-
If the square is flooded or covered in debris
or objects the cost is increased by 1.
-
If another model is in the square the cost is
increased by 1. No more than a total size of 2 of all models can be in a square during
a Phase.
-
If the square is submerged a model can only move
once in the entire Turn unless it can Swim.
-
If the square is covered in dangerous or loose
or shifting debris the cost is increased by 2.
-
Certain Artifacts or Action Choices from other
models may also affect the cost of moving into a square.
Costs to enter a square are cumulative. A Model
can pay this cost over multiple Phases or Turns to complete the movement if they do
not have enough Speed to complete in one Phase. If a Model performs any other Choice
but to Move it cannot complete the move and must begin again.
Xul wants to pass by Meena who is one some
stairs ahead of him. It costs an extra 1 to go up the steep stair case and 1 more
because Meena is in the way. This 2 extra points is added onto the base 1 of going
forward once and then a second time to go past Meena because as the sum of their Size
is greater than 2, the both cannot be in the same square at the end of the Phase,
for a total of 4 Speed points.
There are special kinds of movement Choices a model
can make instead of normal movement.
-
The model can climb up or down one level. This movement costs
4 points of Speed.
-
The model can jump or leap. A model can jump over as many squares
as its Stride attribute. The cost to jump is double the cost of moving through that
many squares.
Xul chooses to jump over a 1 square wide conduit.
He has a Stride of 2 so can jump over it. The conduit is a Dangerous square costing
2 points of Speed to enter. To jump over will cost double this to 4 points. On the
other side of the conduit is an empty square that costs 1 to enter; this is doubled
to 2. The total cost is 6 points of Speed.
-
The model can lie down. Lying down costs 1.
-
The model can stand up. Standing up costs 2.
-
The model can crawl. Crawling doubles the cost entering a square.
Some models are very fast or ride in vehicles or are equipped
with items that significantly boost their speed. Vehicles or items have no Speed attribute,
just Stride and also Turn. The model ‘driving’ still activates according to their
Mind and can move up to the Stride of the vehicle. Turn is the number of squares the
model moves before it can change to face another direction. Drifting into another
column does not count as turning.
Additional vehicle/equipment rules are explained in the rules
of the vehicle/equipment.
