Models can interact with objects and Artifacts during their Activation. The number
of interactions depends on the complexity of the interaction and the Mind attribute
of the model.
The bands of complexity of interactions are
-
Thoughtless (0). Such as opening a door.
-
Simple (1). Such as getting a weapon or Artifact out and ready.
-
Moderate (2). Such as disarming a trap laid with a Moderate test.
-
Difficult (3). Such as trying to find a sequence to unlock a door.
-
Challenging (4). Such as trying to decode a cipher.
-
Impossible (5). Such as trying to unlock the secret of the Gackt.
The number in (brackets) is the number of like faces that are required to succeed
in the interaction. If the model gets less than this number the interaction fails
and must be attempted again if possible.
The model can spend as many Mind Points on the interaction as they wish to.
A model can spend no more Mind points in a Turn than their total Mind. If a model’s
Mind is reduced during the phases of a Turn and becomes less than the points already
spent the model can make no more interactions.
A model can prepare their interaction. Each 5 consecutive phases spent in preparation
before the interaction give 1 Interaction flip to a die face. A model may also sacrifice
2 Mind Points to have 1 Interaction flip instead.
If an action calls for a Contested Interaction then two or more models are pitted
against each other, instead of one against an artifact or himself. Each model can
use as many Mind Points as they which and can sacrifice Mind Points to gain flips.
After rolling and flips the model with the greater number of die with the same face
wins the Interaction.
Xul and Meena are engaged in a high stakes game of Poker. Whomever wins the
game wins the prized artifact. Xul has Mind 5 and Meena 5 as well. Xul decides to
roll 3 die and have 1 flip (costing 2 Mind Points). Meena will not sacrifice for flips.
Xul gets 4, 3, 2 and flips the 2 to 4 giving him 4, 4, 3; he best result has 2 faces
(4, 4). Meena rolls 6, 6, 6, 5, 3. She has no flips but her best result has 3 faces
(6, 6, 6) and she wins the artifact and gives Xul a consoling look before she walks
away with the prize.
When a model has run out of points of a face or capability then can Take a Risk to
try and perform another Action for that attribute.
Xul has used both his CP fighting an irate Bouncer and has him wobbling and the
door out of the bar is just a few meters away. All he has to do is knock the Bouncer
down and he calls upon his reserves and decides to take a Risk...
Risks have complexity the same as interactions and Mind Points are used in the same
way to test for their success. Risks that can be taken are:
-
Move: The cost of moving in Speed Points is the complexity of the Risk.
A 2 Speed Point move would be a Risk (2) test.
-
Gain 1 Combat Point: Only 1 CP can be Risked in a phase. It is a Risk (2) test.
-
Increase Accuracy: The accuracy of an attack can be increased up to double the base
accuracy of the weapon. It is a Risk (1+accuracy required) test.
An increase in accuracy of 2 would be a Risk (3) test.
Xul has 4 Mind Points remaining and uses then all to gain another CP. He decides
to sacrifice 2 Mind Points to give a flip ensuring that he will make the Risk (2)
test.
