Errata
Like anything else, mistakes can be made or better ideas come along that more accurately
describe what was originally intended. Aryiki is like anything else and here changes,
updates and clarifications to the rules are places.
Aryiki: Amazon Fantasy Miniature Wargame rulebook
Movement:
-
P9. Additional Paragraph: A Stand that is contacted
in the flank or rear and is not contacted to its front and has not moved this
movement phase may turn to face the enemy, only if possible.
This allows Units/Stands that are flank contacted
in the Attacker's movement phase to still have a limited form of movement allowed
to them and represents them reacting to the attack in time.
Melee:
-
P17. Additional Paragraph: When Stands are Pushed
Back into terrain they cannot cross or contact an enemy Stand to their side of front,
the Stand takes an extra Hit for each Push Back it cannot complete.
This change brings Melee in line with Shooting as
it was always meant to be.
-
P12 & P17. Additional Paragraph: Stands also take
additional Hits when Pushed Back if they are:
-
in or will enter Difficult Terrain.
-
in contact with a Table edge, or Stands behind are
and would normally be pushed off the Meadow. The Stand(s) are not pushed off the Meadow.
These points reflect the additional confusion and
danger terrain will cause to a formation, and stop massed archery from driving Units
and any behind off the table early in the game before that side has had a chance to
move away from the table edge. Taking casualties instead allows the game to proceed
but still penalises the backed-up player.
Morale:
Small Units (2 Stands or less) have require all their Stands to be destroyed for them
to Rout. This disadvantages Elite Units (those Stands with the E trait) which are
generally small and cost more per Stand than a non-Elite Stand. The rule was originally
meant to be written as the table below it was laid out. However the wording of the
Broken Armies is correct and it is the table that is changed (making total defeat
a little harder to achieve).
-
P15: Change Routing a Unit, first sentence, to read:
If a Unit has lost at least half of its Stands at the beginning of the Morale Phase
it is Routed and all the remaining Stands are removed from the battle as the surviving
maidens flee to safety.
-

Glamour:
The rules for Glamour have changed significantly from the printed version in the rulebook.
These changes better reflect the aim of Glamour between Units and Units/Heroines.
-
P29: Completely replacing Glamour in Battle:
Both sides sum up their Glamour (Unit and the Heroine with the highest GLAM) and roll
a D3 (rounding up) and add this to their score.
-
If the defender wins then the attacker cannot move
into melee and stops 2” from the defender (if not already closer), the maidens will
petering out as they truly appreciate the terribly beauties they are getting too close
to.
If the attacker wins the defending damsels take fright are Pushed Back one standard
-
base depth for the difference of the test. The overawing maidens can then Follow Up
and rout and disperse the damsels just as if they had won melee.
If the result is a draw then the attackers move into contact and normal melee occurs.
Example: A Stand of Dhrow Maidens (Glamour 1) wishes to take and punish the Domina
Witch Deseri (Glamour 2). The Maidens roll a 3 for a final score of 3 (1+(3/2*). Deseri
rolls a 3 as well and her total is 4. Deseri wins the contest and the Dhrow are just
too afraid of her to carry out their cruel intentions. If Deseri were attacking a
Stand of Haeg (no Glamour) and she rolled 5 and the Haeg 2 the difference would be
(2+5=7) - (0+2=2) 5. The Haeg are Pushed Back five base depths qualing in fear and
Deseri Follows Up three, destroying the Stand (H3).
If a Glamour test is required to move into the flank or rear to initiate melee, the
attacker gets +1 to their Glamour if attacking the flank and +2 if attacking the rear.
The result takes place in the Movement phase, not the melee phase.
These changes to the way Glamour is used by Units make it a more offensive tactic
where highly Glamorous Heroines can rout Units of maidens on their own or break through
a line; and if accompanied by a Unit themselves she can shatter an army. Defensively
Glamour can be used to block part of a Meadow by placing a Unit or Heroine with high
Glamour there and enemy maidens are unable to calm their fluttering hearts and engage
her in battle
